DISINFECTANTS

BACTERIA, FUNGI, VIRUSES, MICROBES – WHICH DISINFECTANT IS BEST TO USE? WHAT IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR DISINFECTION? HOW DO I DISINFECT CORRECTLY?

We are constantly surrounded by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses or fungi. In itself, this is not a bad thing, because most of these microscopically small creatures are harmless or even useful to us. Only a small percentage can be harmful to humans and animals. These microbes are called pathogens and can be largely removed by the use of disinfectants on objects, surfaces and skin. But not all disinfectants are the same.

How to use disinfectant products correctly?

  • It is important to use the right disinfectant for each type of microbe.
  • It is recommended to strictly respect the indicated duration to obtain the desired effectiveness.
  • To avoid using too much or too little disinfectant and, in the worst case, risking a burn or irritation, choose ready-to-use products.
  • Choose virucidal disinfectants to combat most known viruses (e.g. Norovirus, Covid). "Limited virucidal" products are only effective against certain viruses.
  • Fungicide disinfectants are effective against fungal pathogens.
  • Bactericidal disinfectants are effective against bacterial pathogens.
  • When you need to disinfect surfaces, make sure you use different cloths for each different area so as not to spread pathogens from one place to another. This is why we offer cloths in different colors and qualities.
  • To combat pathogens of gastrointestinal infections, disinfect especially the areas that are frequently visited by several people, such as the sink, taps, door handles, light switches, etc.
  • Hand sanitizers should be used on dry skin and should not be wiped off or rinsed off with water.

When should disinfectants be used at home or in private environments?

Medical grade disinfectants can also be used at home, in your workplace or in the office:

  • in order to break chains of infection in the workforce or within the family.
  • to protect immunocompromised people or those with underlying diseases and low immune defenses from high risks of contagion from strangers.
